Grants for Freelance Writers

A number of writers working in the freelance field have regular jobs to pay the bills. This is especially true for newbies who find it difficult to get a steady stream of income coming in. For any individual with a dream of writing full time and quitting the daytime job, consider getting a grant.

Freelance writing grants exist if you happen to know where to look for them. They bridge the gap between the dream of writing full time and seeing it come true. Most are large enough to supplement an income in this field and a few are more than most people will make in their daytime jobs.

There are two types available, competitive and non-competitive. This will review both types to help inform writers what options are on hand for these when and if you need them.

Competitive

Countless ones are accessible for both newbies and veteran writers. There is an enormous field of opportunities open for fiction and non-fiction writers alike.

Various competitive ones match social causes with writing opportunities. Projects worth thousands of dollars are on the table. A great example of matching a social cause would be a company wanting to produce articles surrounding green living or recycling. A terrific match is writers displaying expertise or skill in this field.

Applying for a competitive grant typically means submitting applications or proposals to a review board. The board or sometimes simply a single reviewer evaluates the information and makes a decision of who gets the money.

The decision process includes giving points and ranking competitively all applications received. The highest scores win out.

Noncompetitive

These are similar to competitive grants, but are awarded using a different method. Candidates receive the money based on a legally defined blueprint. All grants have their own formula. A number of these never need a proposal submitted, an application is everything needed. Each will have their own guidelines outlining what is required and who is eligible based on the guidelines.

A wonderful example would be extending one to female writers. There is competition with each applicant, but a proposal from each one is not necessary. Non female writers are not eligible based on the blueprint.

Where to find grants

These are a few sources to check into for freelance writing grants. Several are general subjects while others are for a specific genre or venue. These are both competitive and non-competitive as well.

A few tips to make it easier

There are several things every writer looking at a grant should do to make certain they increase the likelihood of getting one.

a)      Always research each one carefully. Know what the foundation or company offering the grant is searching for and make sure you are a great fit for it.

b)      Read the instructions for applications and proposes thoroughly. Follow the directions to the letter

c)       Always handle yourself professionally. If you are denied, follow up with a thank you for the opportunity to apply, etc.  There is a possibility a professional connection is made for future work or other writing gigs even with a denial.

d)      Look for these through foundations, companies, organizations and government agencies. Thousands exist for a variety of different monies.

In conclusion

Hunting for these is a full time job and there is lots of competition. This is a time consuming project for many and prepare to spend the time needed to make it successful. Though the time investment is substantial the payoff is terrific when you find one and get the funds you need.
Literally thousands of funds are located in foundations established for writers in need of grant monies. Some wonderful examples are the Amber Brown Fund, Martha Weston Grant and the Barbara Carlin Grant.
This is only a glimpse of what is available around the web and there are lots more to be discovered. This is a place to begin your journey as a freelance writer looking for a writing grant.

Different Kinds of White Papers and the Audience to Reach

White papers are typically not a term a lot of newbie writers are familiar with. These are specialized pieces of writing material requested by a client on a unique subject for a particular type of audience. The targeted audience is usually readers the client is trying to reach with subject matter either scientific or technical in nature and a more “layman” interpretation is needed to get across their message.

Nearly all of these are created with the same intent, but there are different approaches to expressing a message depending on the targeted reader. This gives a brief overview of the distinct audiences of focus along with a variety of approaches a freelance writer takes to constructing what the client requests.

Four distinctive groups of readers:

Within the same company-this is communication routinely is from one area of a company to another area of the same organization. Generally one department is disclosing material to another or from a single area to the rest of the entire company.

Business and investor relationship-businesses seeking out investors want to share the simple terms of what they offer the average investor and what the investor can expect in return. Generally what they do as a business and how the invested financing is handled is included as well.

Launching with the public-when the scientific or technology community reveals the latest and greatest in their field with the public they have white papers created. These are the largest portion of white paper writing gigs.

Scholarly –this is what comes to mind when most people think of the term. This situation encompasses a writer sharing academic papers for boards or committees. Various clients interested in circulation with groups for discussion or would like to see their material in journals need the scholarly method.

Types of white papers

Problem and solution

A communication revealing a problem and a solution to it using facts, figures and other logic is a problem and solution white paper. A new method or tactic to the issue is generally the norm. All four groups of readers are reached with this layout. For an example, it can be used within the same company to discuss an issue with upper management or even disclosing topics to journalists, bloggers in addition to industry analysts.

Background

Sharing the advantages of a particular product or service combined with the features happens to be a background white paper. Almost always only the positive aspects are listed along with straightforward list of details. Mainly these are aimed toward business to business connections or sales staff. These are a little larger than most other types running anywhere from 8 to 10 pages in length. While generally considered promotional, they do not necessarily have to be chocked full of marketing techniques and lingo to work out well.

Lists

Lists are always marvelous resources for writers to use with anything they create. This holds true when building magnificent white papers. Characteristically these are comprised of questions, answers or topics to discuss surrounding a client’s specific issue. They are capable of making the writer’s talent and skills stand out and identified as the easiest format.

Lists target an audience of readers already attracted to the specific issue. They are designed to draw attention and interest in the matter. In some cases even debate is the goal. Writers need to build substance both stimulating and very observant using this approach.

In conclusion

The audience determines what type of white paper to build. Most clients have an idea in mind of which type they would like used. Though, in a good number cases more than one kind works for the writing job. As the professional your input is valuable in making certain the best approach is used to connect with the audience they are reaching out to. Remember, the task is sharing scientific or technical material using a more informal approach. The job requires building content with terminology easy to understand for someone possibly unfamiliar with the majority of the substance.

A great piece of work written for the wrong audience or using the wrong kind of white paper defeats the job. Combining the right white paper with the right focused reader assures a job well done.

Freelance Writing White Papers

New freelance writers will often hear the words “white papers” and have no familiarity with the term. Deciding whether or not to create white papers as a form of income is a necessary question many newbies ask as they come to the career. Learning what they are and what they can or cannot add to your freelance writing career or will add to your writing income is extremely important. Discover if this is something you would find an interest in with a little education on the matter.

What are white papers?

Do not feel alone wondering about white papers. The name itself implies for lots of writers they are some sort of scholarly type papers or content you create. The only real education needed to mold white papers is the ability to write.

White papers are defined as a report built to communicate specialized info or material to chosen group of readers. Although there is more than one type of white paper, they are essentially produced using the same method.

What does the client want from you?

Clients express what substance to communicate and what audience they would like you to reach. For the most part the material is extremely specialized and the readers they would like to grasp are only slightly familiar with it. This is where you come in to break down the information into a form that is easily understood. Along the way of “translating” for the reader you add your excellent writing skills. Most clients for white papers are sharing scientific or technical material.

How to profit with white papers

Most clients are searching for someone to write for them with a specialized skill set. For an example, an insurance client for home owners insurance needs white papers around changes they have made to several of their products.  With numerous different deductibles, exclusions and changes to more than a few long term existing policies, their new policy is full of terminology and legalese most clients are not familiar with. In order to assure they are meeting the needs of customers when rolling out changes, they will hire a freelance writer familiar with homeowner’s insurance terminology, policies or a background that demonstrates they can accomplish a wonderful set of white papers to get the job done.

Having the talents in your writing resume to get the work accomplished is great for your career on a number of levels. These are generally higher paying jobs than the average freelance writing gig for substance you are already familiar with. This familiarity normally means building the material faster and easier than most as well as constructing a future client listing in most cases. In general these are clients with more than one job opportunity available and a job well done means future income is a safe bet.

Where to find white paper jobs

Several websites specialize in these kinds of writing jobs. They connect clients searching for freelance writers. Although a number of larger companies have in-house staff writing their white papers, there are still plenty seeking the help of freelancers. Working through a website is a safer bet then using freelance writing boards. Sites help assure payment is made along with rules followed by both parties concerning writing contracts.

In conclusion

This is a niche just like any other for most freelancers. Within the niche you can focus on a precise area of expertise. Writers with specialized skills sets or education will find most client material easy to understand and are capable of creating terrific content.

As a great writer make it interesting, easy to understand and educational for the focused audience members with little or no effort. You act as the middle man between the client and the reader they wish to focus on and have the capability to make a great income while doing something you enjoy.

Pinbooster Site Review

Nearly all of the material on the site is tied to freelance writing, education and earning. Along with creating content a lot of writers work extensively with images and own a Pinterest account. With that in mind, this overview is of interest to lots of freelancers. Check it out if you are a pinner or need some extra cash.

Pinbooster is a website which has been around since Pinterest came into play. Two web entrepreneurs worked to create a platform where advertisers and Pinterest users (Pinners) are connecting. Pinbooster was developed to help you make money by simply using the image and video site as intended. In other words, they are willing to pay you to pin ad content for social connecting to Pinterest accounts.

When you think about it with millions of users engaged in Pinterest, advertising was the next step in social media evolution.  The advantages and disadvantages for signing up with Pinbooster are briefly discussed here.

What members gain

Pinners are able to use these accounts to make money by joining with advertisers of all shapes and sizes. You must have a Pinterest account in place to sign up with Pinbooster. After becoming a member of the Pinbooster community, you pin to your Pinterest account and get paid for it.

The purpose of the community is to connect your audience under the Pinterest account with advertisers by using pins. Advertisers get a listing of Pinboosters and corresponding Pinterest accounts. They are able to offer opportunities based on info they receive. Material, content, number of followers and other factors affect which ones you receive an offer from.

In general members of Pinterest with larger established blocks of followers are favored by sellers willing to pay. The more followers you have the more people will see an ad which accounts for different payments and number of offers received.  This typically means the larger your social connections the more ads will be sent your way.

Members are able to choose which sellers they would like to work with and can accept or decline connections. This is your personal account and the company admits they would like to keep it that way.

What advertiser gain

Advertisers are always searching for the next customer or client and have discovered social media helps in getting where they want to be financially. They are willing to pay Pinbooster participants to market for them via Pinterest accounts.

Hashtag promotion, pictures, images, video and links are all included in marketing techniques. They will choose which one suits their needs and connect with a Pinner to see it happen.

Disclosure info

All pins used through Pinbooster are identified as advertisements when posted. There is a disclosure engine which makes this an automated process and one less thing you have to do.  This is attractive for many who like their followers to know these are ads they are seeing.

Payment

One of the first things most workers are looking for is how much they are making on any job.  Time is precious and pennies on the dollar may or may not be worth the time you invest.  Finding any specifics on this issue on the website was difficult.

The website is very vague on payments. There is no concrete info or material available on the landing page about it without logging in or joining the community. This is sort of strange considering the company is attempting to gain users with the enticement of earnings.  Understandably the income earned is likely to vary, but this is certainly important to anyone considering participating. General info or examples of pay would be wonderful for anyone thinking about joining.

According to what was offered each pinner sets the price for each action they are willing to take on behalf of advertisers. For an example, they have one price for an image, another for a video, etc. Offers come in and you take them or leave them for the next pinner.

Based on this disclosure, most would believe there is some sort of bidding process.  Advertisers are not only looking at your number of followers, but also how much you are charging. The lower the ad space the more offers you could receive. Though, does this mean you are putting in a lot of work for a little bit of money?

Other reviews around the web reveal a minimum pay of about a $1 for each ad pinned.

One very positive thing is getting paid within 24 hours of completing your assigned action. Although, you have to wait until a minimum of $100 is in your account. Owners of the site admit this is because of “crazy processing fees”. Therefore, although you get paid within a day of completing the work, payment to your banking accounts could possibly be a long way off.

Other disadvantages

The site is easy to navigate, but sparse. The business has not been around for very long and is less than a year old. One of the most disturbing things about the site is a general write up about the cofounders with no more than a paragraph about each. Additionally, most of the write up was about what to buy them to drink if you meet in a bar. This was very unprofessional and says a lot about a business with this on their company website.

In conclusion

At this point and time I would not recommend joining the site based on what is visible and available around the web. There is little to know real information outside of advertising getting paid to pin. No brand names of advertisers you will connect with and without verification of how much money you make is not a good sign of a great investment.

This pay to pin ad platform is highly questionable for the amount of time to spend with it and what members really earn as a return. I would admit I found more disadvantages, but would love to hear from anyone with an actual account they are working with.

All About Textbroker University

Textbroker is a website numerous freelance writers use to increase their online income. It connects writers with clients that will pay for their work. They have recently provided another resource for community members to increase their earnings potential working on the site. The online writing site is introducing “a university” to help increase your income by helping you to write better articles and become an overall better author.

The resource is offered to any writer with a three star rating. The purpose is to increase your rating at the end of the process which in turn means more writing gigs and more money for you. More clients and better assignments should follow with an increase in your writing status after enrolling in their University.

What is the Textbroker University?

The Textbroker University is a wonderful concept when you think about it. Most writing sites will have you craft content and submit for editing. You will receive advice on how to improve this individual piece of work and the hope is whatever knowledge you get will transfer to other aspects of your material in the future. This is not always true. In fact, for most writers the comments and criticism is immediate and the knowledge is not retained or used to craft better future content.

What it offers

Textbroker is looking to make every writer connected to their site become an expert through an individualized 3 step instructional series which forms building blocks for the future.  Immediately signing up for the exercise or University will gain you feedback on five of your most recent unrated articles. With the advice shared, writers will follow a three step series of instruction with a focus on common issues discovered in your articles. This means they are honing your writing style and performing and overall adjustment that will return you better future material.

Along with the three step series of instruction for your articles, the Textbroker University promises to instruct you in writing effective copy, proof reading and even comma usage along with other common writing issues and concerns.

More money

Writers that complete the course will have their next ten articles reviewed. The writer’s worth will improve personally and professionally. A three star writer will be moved to a four star writer. Four star writers will earn almost 40 percent more than a three star one for the same article. Along with making more for your articles other assignments like proofreading are promised to come your way.

In conclusion

Along with every other writing site on the web Textbroker is effectively trying to get writings to produce better content. Instead of taking a reactive approach to the issue they have built a proactive approach. This is a unique and wonderful way that sets them apart from other similar sites around the web.

Any member of the site that would like to see their star level increased along with their writing opportunities and earnings should look into the Textbroker University.

If there are any writers which have already gone through this instructional process and would like to share their story with us, feel free to do so.

Why List Articles Get Traffic

Gaining as much traffic as possible is what every writer strives for. The viral article that gets the positive attention of search engines as well as thousands of readers is only one more article away for each of us. In the meantime we will make the most of what we have to offer. One of the tools at your disposal is lists articles to get more traffic.

Traffic for some writers is easy. They have the magic touch to generate numerous articles which take off and generate the traffic needed to make a terrific living as a writer. Still most of us struggle daily to get the most of every word and hoping our next publication will be the one with a WOW factor needed to see an enormous increase in readers and our online writing income. There are some great internet resources sharing the tools needed to make this happen on a routine basis. One of these is making lists for readers.

Why readers like lists

Readers love to read lists. When they are sending inquiries or questions to search engines they are searching for specific info. Writers that want to be cute or coy with their titles will miss out on thousands of hits. Have the right title to attract readers to your content. They will know exactly what to expect from your title.

Social networking with a wonderful title will get your article shared. Simple and straight forward is the best way to go. For instance, if create a top list on Getting Rid of Toe Nail Fungus, do not call it something like Eradicating Nail Fungus on Your Toe Nails.

Even though you have built lists for your readers, these are still articles. Make the most of your content. Make it valuable and informative to your readers. Remember the same constructive measures search engines use for all content will also apply to your listings. Craft wonderful material for readers as well as search engines.

How many is enough for a list

Odd numbers work better than even when making lists. This means if you have 10 of something, change it to 7 or divide it in half to make five of each. This means having 10 in a list could potentially build you more than one list. If you use 7 and have 3 left over, add more to your 3 to craft another listing.

You do see some with 10 or 20 items, but the odd number is more attractive for some reason.

How to Craft Ideas for Lists

Lists can virtually be about anything. In fact, when you are an expert in an area you will basically have an enormous supply of material at your fingertips you are essentially unaware of. Consider if you are a blogger. Some top lists off of the top of my head would be

·         10 Best Titles for Blog Posts

·         15 Reasons it Pays to Blog

·         7 Most Asked Blogging Questions

·         30 Great Images for War Game Blogs

·         11 Reasons Why Your Posts Don’t Work

·         17 Ways to Write Blogs Faster

All of these are simply off the top of my head. When you have the time to make a list of ideas, go crazy. No idea is off limits for your genre or expertise. Even if it sounds silly or out of sorts, a quick tweak later could turn it into something that works for you.

One List Could Be More

There are times when one list could be two or more. This is when an idea takes on a more detailed design. In other words, your “11 Reasons Why Your Posts Don’t Work” could transform into several more. For instance, 5 Reason Why Your Electronic Posts Do Not Work” or “7 Reasons Why Electronic Posts are Great” or “5 Greatest Electronic Posts”. All of these were created out of one idea.

Getting Your Articles Written

Lots of writers are outsourcing their writing at this time. They are hiring other writers to create content for lists articles. Subcontractors through a variety of writing sites are willing to created tons of articles for a fee. Of course, using an outsourced writer could mean not receiving what you consider impressive material. Additionally, this is not free. You will be responsible for paying for these services.

If you write a lot of these talented articles at once and publish them you could potentially increase your readership by hundreds in a very short period of time. In addition to growing your immediate audience, passive writing income will increase.

In conclusion

If you are still searching for that article that goes viral, good luck. It could be right around the corner. In the meantime, gather readers to your content by writing some remarkable material through lists. The more readers you get to your articles, the more money you will make as a freelance writer. Follow these tips to make it happen with less stress and more success.

The Advantages of Showing a Google Author Profile

Have you noticed while surfing the web there are several Google Search results that return information that has a writer’s profile information attached? This is not a fluke or mishap on the part of Google. In fact this is an enormously clever idea someone discovered with lots of benefits for freelance writers. This is a Google Authorship or sort of a author profile Google has created. In fact, having your author profile shown in the results of Google Search has a lot of benefits many writers never imagined.

Benefits could include increasing traffic, Brand recognition and growing page rank with search engines. All of these are on a "wish list" for any freelance writer working hard at their online writing career. Getting more traffic or readers to your content is extremely important and through promotional opportunities like this, you will make it happen.
How does this help me?
Nine out of every ten readers searching for material around the web will click on the first results a search engine offers. With Google being the largest search engine currently being used, it is important to rank as high as possible with this search engine. Ranking first means more traffic, which means making more money online as a writer.

Of course, the chance of being first on any page of material with them is extremely difficult and the average writer doesn’t make it. Even if you are fortunate enough to make it with one piece of work, you will not with everything you write. Though, if you are a talented writer with great relevant content you could potentially find yourself ranking high enough to get on the first couple of pages which is where a reader is willing to browse to find what they are looking for.
Gaining the attention of a reader enough to distract them from automatically selecting the first piece of content and choosing you at every chance you get is a good thing. Find a way to make them choose you when you miss the first spot on the page and still get the traffic your work deserves. Having a piece of something special like the Google author profile attached to your link could make that happen.

Authorship defined
A writer will have their byline and pic from their Google plus or Google profile placed next to their search engine results with search engine returns for any reader query results. This is Google Authorship or better said a Google author profile tied to links.

A number of people have even heard a rumor the search engine will eventually use this as a way to eliminate spamming and include it in building a better way to position content or rankings. Not only will written material be ranked according to the algorithms Google has tied to content, but also include author rank on some level when deciding where to put a piece of excellent content in search engine result returns.
At first glance it may be more hoops to jump through, but this is currently not being used to rank your work.

The future for Authorship
Categorizing written material with both of these pieces combined is not taking place at this moment. However, while searching for ways to increase membership in Google Plus -this particular piece of the pie may not be that far away.

There are rumors the future could hold some input from author profiles or rankings along with their content for search engine changes being considered.

Advantages to think about
If this is the direction of the future, getting your foot in the door in the beginning of the process could help you establish a great position for having your work classified higher in search engine results. You could have the opportunity to have work on the first pages a reader finds and increase your traffic resources tremendously. This is more money in your freelance writing wallet. Organic traffic will increase when Google author profile or Authorship is working correctly.
Building online credibility with search engines is important to say the least. This could possibly help in classifying your byline higher and your work more superior to other writer’s materials depending on what future direction this idea goes in.

Writers working toward building online businesses will have an opportunity and resource to work with what could possibly link all online work together easier. Readers that recognize your byline next to a piece of material will generally click on it. If they enjoy the relevant material written they have the resource to search for other work from the same writer with ease using the same profile link.

Adding your authorship to your writing work will not change where Google ranks your material. This is not included in the algorithms they use today.

Getting two for the price of one is a good thing. How about helping you save time with networking these same articles or posts? This is a great time saving measure.

What platform are you working with?

Bloggers using the BlogSpot platform have a simple method for linking the two together. There is an automated process which will do the work for you. Simply log into your BlogSpot account and follow the easy directions provided. Going forward, every post will have your authorship linked to a search engine result that returns your content.

Outside of the BlogSpot platform you will need a Google or Google plus profile created and a little more work is involved.  There is a post on Making Blogs Work outlining setting up your Google Authorship using platforms like WordPress, Infobarrel, Hubpages and other places your content is found around the web.
Find out more here.

Disadvantages

You do need to use your real name to claim authorship with Google. This means if you write under a byline that is not your real name and would like to keep it this way; this is an obstacle that cannot be tackled at this time according to a number of resources around the web.

There are some writers who admit you can use a byline outside of your real name. However, you need to jump through a number of hoops to make it so. Getting authorship will make a lot of writers who enjoy anonymity give it up to profit from Authorship.
I could not verify whether or not this was a true statement or not. I do understand a lot of writers do not like to use their real name while working and want to keep it that way going forward. Whether this search engine will give them a break remains to be seen.
It takes about a month to see any real measurable results of whether this is working in your favor or not. If it is, organic search engine readers should rise.
If you write on a number of different sites, you will need to update all of these individually to tie back to Google Plus or Google profile. There is no one stop to do it all method for making changes to add the Google profile method discussed here.

How soon does it happen?

Search engine results and rankings do not automatically change and correct. This means it will be a while before any visible results to changes you have made are proven to be beneficial. Of course, you will be able to analytical tell if you have received more visitors from your Google search engine crowd when it does start working. Though, whether or not this is because of the modifications made to your Authorship is a direct result or not is to be determined over about a month. Other factors like improving your material or getting more work out there could also play part.
Hopefully, analytics will be changed to reflect these findings separately. This would be the direction to go for the search engine to prove their idea is working toward improving a writers income and get more people on board.
Generally 30 days will be the measurement for a difference after changes. This is characteristically the amount of time Google search engine rankings reflect any major changes in “reranking” order. Therefore, it is assumed this same time period is justified in finding out if your work paid off.

Google will not give you an automatic notice updates and changes to link your authorship has been completed for all of your online content. You will need to manually verify changes have been made by looking through search engine material.

All of your Google profile links should follow directly to one author profile page. Whether you use Google Plus or a regular Google profile.
There is a “contributor to” area of every Google profile which should connect a reader with your author profile pages.  Make sure you do not have more than one profile link with Google. This is not usually the case. However, if you have set up more than one because of a name change, email change with Google or anything else which could affect this, update immediately to link everything to one place or one profile.

http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippetsis a link or resource which gives you a preview to verify set up is completed for your Google Profile. This will not verify all of your changes to content have been made.

Note-google has not changed how they rank material with Authorship. as of today this has not been implemented, but where there is a rumor you will generally find some truth in it. it could possibly be underway.

in conclusion
The easiest way to draw the reader's attention to a spot on a page is adding something unique or out of the ordinary not seen with the other search engine results on the same page. Adding you profile info is one resource to use to make this happen.
Adding a profile picture to a byline is a wonderful way to interest a reader and make them take an added interest in your link. Not only do you gain a response of a reader click on your link, but many readers admitted they believe the pic and the byline holds more authority over a subject matter.
Generally having something stand out from a boring page of information is enough to gain that much needed notice. This is where that author profile from Google comes in and makes great things happen for you and the reader. Consider setting one up.
Whether or not you set one up does not affect where your material is ranked with the Google Search engine today. Yet, it doesn't hurt your rankings either.

How to Find the Time to Write Your First Book

Ask any writer working on writing their first book and they will share with you the biggest challenge is actually finding the time to get it done. Finding the time to write your first book is problematic and needs attention which means making some necessary changes to get it done. Having a plan of action in place or guideline to follow helps tremendously with overcoming challenges being faced.

A number of writers have multiple responsibilities with their professional writing career to keep the money flowing in. They are in charge of blogs, websites, newsletters, writing gigs with personal clients and even creating articles to keep passive income coming in for money in their pockets. The time slot needed to craft a great book just does not seem to be there. You can find the time to write your first book if you know where to look. Follow these guidelines and strategies to make it work in your favor and get it published sooner rather than later.

Write About Something You Know
When it comes to considering building a book, many writers toss around more than one idea. In fact, you may have several terrific ones. Identifying which ones to pursue is important in dedicating your precious time. You want to see a return on what you invest. Therefore, among all of the ideas you have at hand, choose one worth pursuing. Make a decision to write about something you know versus something you have to research.
Believe it or not your audience will enjoy reading about something you know versus something you do not. The writing flows more evenly and strong as well as the amount of time saved could be enormous. Instead of finding the time for creating one book, you could actually come out with more than a couple of great works of art.
Adjust the List of Priorities
There really is only so much time we have to do everything and there is never enough time to do everything. This is where you need to make some adjustments in your list of priorities.
Making an adjustment in your list of priorities does not necessarily mean you change where and how you spend time with family and friends and other personal matters in your life. In fact, this is where you assess where you are spending your time and determine if changes can be made. Make writing your book one of your priorities. Simply keeping it on a list of things to do “one of these days” will never get it done.
Don’t Get Caught in the Popularity Trap
There are always going to be hot topics. Do not let this dictate what your book will be about. Trends come and go and change with the wind. Empower yourself to write about what you know and what you are familiar with rather than a hot topic. Of course, there is always the possibility both are not exclusive of one another. However, the chances are slim they are typically one in the same. The mistakes made with writing about a hot topic will get you caught in a trap of creating content about something you are not familiar with. This means spending time in research which is wasted when trends change. This takes you away from making writing your first book a significant part of your writing career.
Don’t get caught in the Time Trap
There is a mindset which many writers will fall into about how long it will take to write a book. The feeling or fear it will take too long to get the job done is something that will stand in your way of focusing on getting it done. The fear of how long you “believe” it will take you to get your book completed is an obstacle to overcome immediately. There is no set time period and do not let this effect how much work and personal energy you devote to the task.
There are tons of resources around the web like Ebook makers and publishing sources to make your job easier. Take advantage of them for time saving.
In conclusion
Writing your first book is a great career choice for lots of writers. Getting the task done is another matter entirely. Following the guidelines identified here will certainly get you started, but the end result is entirely up to you. Get ready, start and go get her done. The possibilities are endless for any talented and innovative writer with the right tools in hand.
