·         Don’t permit the conversation or correspondence to become defensive in nature. Nearly all clients are not out to bash your work. They simply want what they want when they want it.

As a writer, understand that you are publishing work tied to your credibility and career. Writing for a freelance client is a reference that will get you more clients and more work. This means you want to your best work going online at all times. Find a middle ground if possible with your client where you can accomplish if not everything for both of you at least the most as you can. Tell a freelance client when they are wrong the right way.

I haven’t joined yet strictly because of time constraints. However, this is a terrific investment for the writer that has the time. This is definitely the makings of a full time job and full time pay for the right writers that want to blog.

Blogvertise.com is a site that pays writers to blog. In addition, some clients will also pay writers that have a blog to post advertisements in their site and share a portion of the advertising revenue with the blog owner.

Blogvertise is nice because you receive assignments daily. There are even options to receive them more than once per day and payment is continual throughout the month. Assignments are fairly easy and the pay is nice for any writer that can blog.

This is a site which connects writers to advertisers. Writers get paid to blog or post to their blogs advertising links. Most of these are copy and post or creating content with little more than 150 words

A number of different posts have outlined query letters and other approaches to writing for newspapers or writing for magazines. If you have tried your hand in this particular area and are still working at it, don’t give up just yet. In the meantime there is another resource for how to get published in magazines or newspapers. Magazines and newspapers alike receive a number of different Letters to the Editor from readers. Writers are avid readers and can submit your letters or written content for publication with magazines or newspapers just like the next guy.

If you happen to be a subscriber to various newspapers or magazines consider submitting your letter to these publications. You are already paying for a subscription; this is one more use for your monthly payment.

Your letter should not be as formal as a business letter. Though, don’t permit it to be as casual as a blog post. Writing in an article/letter combination format is best. This combination will have the body of a great article, but include a Dear editor and conclude with a thank you and your name. Do your research and include key points that support your opinion or position well. Do not expect to take an entire page, but keep it longer than a couple of paragraphs.

Even though you are attempting to get noticed don’t stray into unkind territory. Remember, this is your name in print and you want it to be positive. You never know when a client or prospective client may catch a glimpse of this piece of the portfolio pie.

Avoid sarcasm, individual or character attacks in letters to the editor. A good writer will find a way to get a particular viewpoint across without a personal assassination. Remember to focus on the facts or point and not the individual. Additionally, these letters are found in the rejection pile faster than most.

This is an simple and almost informal way for a writer to get published in newspapers more than magazines, but will definitely work for both. This is certainly easier than most magazine writing jobs and magazine editors are just as interested as newspaper editors to know that someone is paying attention to what they have in print and appreciate the feedback.

One of the latest and greatest in contest around the web that I have received some information about is a poetry contest. This particular contest is being hosted by Blue Mountain Arts which is searching for original poetry for their eCard Business.

The prizes for Blue Mountain Arts poetry contest are nothing to sneeze at. There is a first prize of $300, second prize of $150 and third prize of $50 for their competition. In addition to the cash prize, winners will have their winning poems displayed on the site.

The deadline for entry is June 30th 2012 which gives those great poets out there plenty of time to submit their entry.
